Lantern fly : Where to spot?
Taman Negara Kuala Tahan
Sabri
Like red-light-bulb “nose”, the lantern fly does not
light up like a lantern. It is, however, very colourful, with striking patterns
on its wings. Not all species are so brightly coloured though, with some being
just plain white with a red snout.
Usually seen singly or in pairs perching unmovingly on the
trunk of a tree, the lantern fly occurs mainly in South East Asia and there are
about 30 species. In Taman Negara Pahang, they can be found on the trails to
Canopy Walkway, Jenut Muda trail or sometimes on boardwalk near the Park Centre.Sabri
Taman negara- things to spot
Kuala Tahan
Do not head out to Taman Negara if you are expecting to spot bigger animal species. The National Park is enormous, which gives animal's ample space to roam freely without any human disturbances. This means that wild animals or birds will have enough possibilities to stay unnoticed, or even avoid human contact altogether. This is a great thing; this means animals here still have big enough living conditions, without being bothered by people (tourists).
